CAT NEEDS A GOOD HOME
(via Alexander Livingston - thelivingston@gmail.com)
I have a cat that introduced himself to me after some kids left him in
a building next to my apartment. We started feeding him on our deck.
Of course I grew attached, and began to let him in my window to hang
out.
He is a small, grey cat, and very much a people’s cat. He’s about 1
1/2 years old. He loves the petting, a little remarkably so, and
never seems to get enough lovin.
I cannot keep him currently even short term, as my apartment situation
will not allow. I also cannot move apartments any time soon. So I
took him to the vet today to get him checked out, in order that the
tests/shots be done to make it easier for someone to take him.
Here’s the kicker. So, my little cat has FIV (the HIV for cats).
This doesn’t affect humans at all. It just affects the cats life span
(shortens), and obviously health with respect to the disease. It is
passed cat á cat through biting and fighting (a fight apparently he
lost, he’s more of a lover). So he either needs to go to a good home
indoors so as not to infect other cats, or be given to a shelter. I
have no other options.
My understanding is that there are plenty of FIV+ cat owners who have
wonderful cats and are happy. It just changes “the end” a bit. Carpe
Felino.
Here’s the query. Sigh. If any one knows any one who would be
interested in being this cat’s owner let me know or pass this on.
He will have had all his shots and vet work done. Barring the FIV
condition, he is exceptionally healthy and playful, kitten-like. He
gives kisses.
Ideal situations include:
People who don’t currently have a cat but want one.
People who have a FIV+ cat who needs a friend.
BIg softies who can’t turn a cat away.
Anyway, with a heavy heart, I offer this cat to a good person.
Hard sell,
Alex
